RFC's Next Ride
Sonoran Desert National Monument

DIRECTIONS

Take I-17 S to 101 S to I-10 W to exit 112 (MC 85 to Gila Bend).

Go south 4 miles to the flashing red light (Shell station on the corner).

From there it is 29 miles (on your odometer) to the turnoff.

When you've gone 28 miles, you will see an overpass ahead. Get ready to turn left and and look for a sign on your right that says "Mobile 32" with an arrow pointing left.

That's the left turn you want to make. If you go under the overpass, you've missed the turn.

The road to Mobile will turn back to the northeast.

Go to MILE MARKER 10 and start looking on the left side for a sign set back,  that says:

               Sonoran Desert National Monument

Turn left down that dirt road - and take it slow.

Proceed down the dirt road to the toilets. We'll meet there.

There is NO WATER at the Monument, so take water for yourselves and your horses. Doggies welcome, although there can be rattlesnakes around.

Among the trails, there is an old stage coach road in the Monument, complete with historical markers, which folks can ride.

Trails are as long or as short and as easy or as hard as you want to make them.

There is a long ride ( 5 hours +) up over the "mountain," which is ideal for a GPS ride. So ... somebody bring a GPS.
